2000 years of history
The Pantheon was founded in 27 B.C. by Marcus Vipsanius Agrippa, son-in-law of Augustus. It was rebuilt by Emperor Hadrian presumably from 112-115 until 124 A.D. approximately, after the fires of 80 and 110 A.D. had damaged the previous building. Since then, Emperors, Kings, Popes, Politicians and even Elon Musk walked on its fine marble. Today, you can enter and admire the Oculus, an open hole on the top of the building where seemingly can’t rain inside. Walk between the tombs of the last Kings of Italy and the place where Raffaello rest in peace. The Dome which stands out against the sky, a Roman engineering which gets more solid as it goes.

The magic Oculus
The Pantheon gains its magic with the sun and the rain, two elements that make spectacular magic tricks thanks to the help of the Oculus. This hole was thought to glorify the greatness of the Eternal City: in fact, when the sun hits the top of the Pantheon on April 21st, the date Rome was founded back in 753 BC, it reaches the door of the monument with an enchanting light beam. Another important feature of the Pantheon is that its unique structure creates an upward air stream that actually dematerializes the rainwater droplets, making the floor always dry even if the Oculus is always open.
